The Analysis and Programming Service of the University of Valencia has made public the Statistical Information Report for the academic year 2012-2013. The document shows updated and purged information on the most important figures of the activity by the academic institution, both in teaching and research, services or infrastructure.
The Report 2012-2013 incorporates important news. For example, the group ‘Double degrees’ has been incorporated in the listings under Titulación y Centro (Degree and Institution) to promote its visibility and also avoid the disintegration of information in each institution; in the Culture section, the data related to the Col•legi Major Rector Peset and the Palau Cerveró, that was shown together until now, has been separated; and the information on sports activities has been broadened by the inclusion of internal and external registration.
In terms of numbers, the annuity 2013 (academic year 2012-2013) has brought for the University of Valencia a slight decrease of new degree students (-1,4%) and another not so slight decrease in Master’s Degree students (-8,9%). On the contrary, the number of doctorate students has increased (7,3%), as well as the number of the University of Valencia-specific postgraduate degrees (2%), bringing a total of 58.390 students. Keeping with the increase of doctorate students, thesis has also experienced a significant increase (11.7%).
When it comes to scholarships, the incremental inclination of the total number of aids to the new degree teaching (especially the one from the MEC), which in whole it makes a 6,7% more than the previous year.
In terms of internationalisation, with the new growth experienced in receiving students from other universities (4.3), the students sent to other higher-education institutions has fallen by 5.8%.
On the other hand, as a positive sign, the increase of companies located in the Science Park of the University of Valencia and the increase of 5,5% in the number of patent families stand out. This transfer effort is more significant since it takes place in an environment marked by the current economic crisis.
