The Universitat de València presented on Friday a new diploma on Applications and Operation with Drones/RPAS, promoted by the University Research Institute on Robotics and Information and Communication Technologies (IRTIC). The event took place at the conference room Joan Pelechano of the School of Engineering at the Burjassot/Paterna Campus.
The University Research Institute on Robotics and Information and Communication Technologies (IRTIC), and the School of Engineering (ETSE) have designed together with the firms Airpull Aviation and HTE Consulting this Universitat de València’s specific degree. Also, the students will obtain the Advanced Certificate of knowledge for RPAS pilots, issued by the ATO Airpull Aviation.
The objective of the diploma is to train entrepreneurs and professionals, to favour the labour integration of the students and to promote the technology transfer between the Universitat de València and the firms, in the field of remotely piloted aircraft –commonly known as drones–, of undeniable impact on the field of the advanced services.
With a teaching team formed by university researchers and experts in the development and operation of drones that come from leader firms of the sector, the Diploma aims to go in depth in the bases of the design of the many applications that use this kind of aircrafts today. The direction of the degree is in charge of Rafael Martínez Durá, professor for the ETSE and researcher and director of IRTIC, at the Science Park of the Universitat de València.
The presentation conference is specially oriented to entrepreneurs and public body responsible people where, apart from getting to know the teaching team, they will be part of a debate on the establishment of possible collaboration frameworks for the implementation of new applications and services, and in the same way, they will get to know the different activities associated to the diploma, which will be developed throughout the next academic year. Among these activities, have great significance the events for specific professional collectives (journalists, air traffic controllers, meteorologists, business associations, or local governments) and the different actions that will take place throughout the year at the Aerdrome of Requena and other prepared zones for the flight of Drones-RPAS.
The conference will continue with a visit to the IRTIC facilities, where will take place an aircraft exhibition, for example, large-scale sailing boats, drones propelled with turbine able of reaching 250 km/h, an helicopter with a scale of 1:4, and multicopters specialised in different applications.
After the presentation conference will start the first events associated to the university diploma. On the morning of Saturday 19th September, it will take place the Conference on Journalism and Drones, act organised with the COSO Foundation, destined specifically to the fact that the professionals of the media know the capacities and opportunities that the drones offer for the development of their work.
Also, during the weekend it will take place the III Len Mount Trophy, international scale helicopters tournament. It is expected that some of the models are exposed in the facilities of IRTIC so that they can be visited by the attendees.
