The Universitat de València is the first public university in Spain to offer a Degree in Gastronomic Sciences. This academic year 2015-2016 has started with an offer of 50 places, totally covered and with a long waiting list. The academic contents of the Degree will be presented this Thursday, 28 January, at 19:00, in the Matilde Salvador Room of La Nau.

The Degree in Gastronomic Sciences will be presented tomorrow in La Nau Cultural Centre, the historical building of the Universitat de València, in the Matilde Salvador Room, at 19:00, in an act that will have the presence of the Principal of the Universitat de València, Esteban Morcillo; the Regional Secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer; the Regional Secretary of Agriculture, Francisco Rodríguez Mulero; the General Director of University, Research and Science, Josefina Bueno; the Vice-Principal for Degree Studies and Language Policies of the Universitat de València, Isabel Vázquez; as well as other university authorities and students.
The Degree in Gastronomic Sciences aims at training professionals with a good basis of scientific, technologic, health and business management knowledge, able to design projects and manage gastronomic services in the fields of haute cuisine, commercial and collective catering and food industry. Furthermore, the degree enables the students to develop and encourage the creativity, innovation and research in the gastronomic world, which has a great economic and social impact, answering the changes of the food sector, like the perception of the cuisine and the new ways of consumption.
