The University adopted a security policy on eGovernment, which ensures data confidentiality of citizens.

The Governing Council of the University of Valencia has approved this Tuesday, 21 January, the security policy on the use of electronic media. The aim is to ensure the confidentiality of the data provided citizens electronically at the time of enrolment, scholarship request, submit to a competitions, etc.

Electronic security policy has been presented by Jesús Albert, delegate of the Rector for Academic Management Processes in the Digital University; Ricard Martínez, technician of control database of the University, and Salvador Roca, Head of Informatics of the institution.
 
These officials have explained that in addition to confidentiality, it aims to achieve the integrity of the data supplied to the University (guaranteed not handling them), and the availability of data through backups. It also establishes mechanisms to track the itinerary of data (traceability), indicating which have been authorized to manage the data throughout its administrative route.
 
“It's about offering the utmost confidence to citizens when they deposit their data in the University administrative processes”, pointed out Albert and Martínez.
 
Royal Decree 3/2010, establishing the National Insurance Scheme is regulated in the field of eGovernment, obliges all governments to develop mechanisms to ensure own safety.
 
According to the applicable general rules, security is conceived as an integrated process consisting of all technical, human, material and organizational elements associated with the system.
 

 

The University of Valencia constitute a committee of electronic safeguards that ensure compliance with the policy objectives of electronic security. In late 2014 an audit to assess the degree of compliance, detect errors and propose solutions were made.
