Monique Proulx

The Quebec author Monique Proulx participates in a meeting in the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication. The act will be presented and moderated by the professor of the Universitat Domingo Pujante. The act will start at 12:00 at the Assembly Hall of the centre. Proulx is author of seven novels and has also worked short stories and scripts. Two of her works have been adapted to the cinema.

Monique Proulx is a Quebec author with a great social involvement who presents current topics - generally in urban context- lots of them in Montreal.   Her activity as writer is varied. She has written seven novel, short stories and scripts. She has the recognition of a great part of the readers and the critics. Tow of her novels have been adapted to the cinema: ‘Le Sexe des étoiles’, 1987 and ‘Homme invisible à la fenêtre’, 1993. We highlight her anthology of short stories ‘Les Aurores montréales’, 1996, translated into Spanish in 2004 (Mexico), and ‘Le cœur est un muscle involontaire’, 2002 and ‘Ce qu'il reste de moi’, 2015, her last published book. 

During the meeting with the author, some extract of her works will be read with the help of students and there will be a a dialogue about her activity as a writer and her special view of the women of Quebec.

The meeting is i the frame of the initiative ‘‘Rostros de la Francofonía en la Comunidad Valenciana 2016’. Organised by the Department of French and Italian, with the collaboration of the Association Internationale des Études Québecoises (AIEQ) and the Institute Français  of Valencia, it will have the presence of Carles Padilla, dean of the faculty; Gérard Teulière, head of the French Institute; and  Ana Monleón, head of the Department in French and Italian.
