Academic, scientific or professional interest: The master’s degree in contemporary philosophicy offers training with philosophical rigour on ideas, concepts, trends of thought and current debates on philosophy, culture, art, politics, religion, science and technology. The master’s degree is open to two approaches: formative and research-oriented. The formative approach is meant to familiarize students with the main problems and contemporary debates in philosophy, as well as to enhance their understanding of how Philosophy relates to other areas of our culture and research. This perspective is of special interest for graduates or ‘licenciados/as’ in Philosophy, Humanities, History, History of Art, Political Sciences, Sociology, Journalism, Communication, Language Studies, Architecture and Fine Arts. The second approach will meet the previous constraints and, besides, facilitate an access in optimal conditions to a PhD Program in Philosophy. Recently, the schedule of courses has been renewed, so that: (a) philosophical disciplines previously unattended, such as aesthetics, moral philosophy, and political philosophy, are now fully covered; and (b) students have more possibilities to choose the subjects according to their respective intellectual interests. Professional career: PhD program in Philosophy; cultural management, publishing management, communication, cultural criticism and intellectual consultancy; research, especially in humanities and social sciences; teaching philosophy and related subjects at different educational levels.
