"With the minimum effort, acquire the maximum knowledge" - Angela. R. Robles.

Our server of documented help for common problems in the use of ICT pays tribute to ANGELA Ruiz Robles, inventor of the mechanical encyclopedia, considered the forerunner of the electronic book.

Ángela, was a teacher and director of schools, as well as a writer and inventor, Ángela carried out several scientific projects, such as the scientific-grammatical atlas that contained information on Spain and the Spanish language in a fold-out format, and the shorthand typing machine that offered a new order of signs and characters for quick reading and easy translation in Spanish and other languages.

On December 7, 1949, he obtained patent No. 190,698 for his Mechanical Encyclopedia, a mechanical, electrical and air pressure procedure for reading books, with the aim of lightening the load of books for students and making teaching more enjoyable and adapts teaching to the level of each student.

The invention made it possible to study several languages, form words, write, draw and operate, all within a portable case with interchangeable coils according to the subjects. In addition, it incorporated sounds, light and a magnifying glass to facilitate reading.

In 1962 Ángela directed the work for the realization of a prototype. The closed case was the size of a book and all the parts were replaceable, which lowered production costs for authors and publishers as it did not require binding. She did not obtain financing to develop her invention, but she went down in history as the forerunner of the e-book.
