The Faculty of Law hosts several activities for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

On the occasion of the commemoration of the 25 November, several events have been organised during this week within the framework of the Faculty of Law, all of them free of charge.

The events on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women have started this November at the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de València with the conference: “La mujer en el franquismo” (“Women in Francoism”) by Mónica Soria Moya (Department of Financial Law and History of Law) and “La Política Exterior Feminista y la violencia de género” (“Feminist Foreign Policy and Gender-Based Violence”), by Maite Alemany Jordán, professor of the Department of International Law 'Adolfo Miaja de la Muela'.

On 25 November, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Professor Maite Alemany Jordán will give a seminar on gender-based violence against Afghan women, refugees in the Palestinian-Israeli armed conflict, and Ukrainian migrant women. On the same day, at 6:00 p.m., Professors Javier Boix Reig and Alberto Alonso Rimo (Criminal Law) will give a lecture on “the reform of crimes against sexual freedom”.

María Huertas (feminist psychiatrist), Llum Quiñonero (journalist and writer) and Raquel Vañó (professor of International Law-UV) will participate in a round table discussion on 28 November at 12:30 p.m. in the Degree Hall of the Faculty of Law. Presented by Fabiola Meco, Vice-Dean of Economics, Analysis, Planning and Campus, the members of the round table will debate on the title “Memoria, género y justicia. Represión en el franquismo y la transición” (“Memory, gender and justice. Repression in Franco’s regime and the transition”).

On 1 December, in the Degree Hall of the Faculty of Law, at 10:30 a.m., Ruth M. Mestre (Philosophy of Law) will give a conference entitled “La aplicación del Convenio de Estambul sin discriminación” (“The application of the Istanbul Convention without discrimination”). This will be followed by the presentation of the Ocean Network on the Istanbul Convention by Lucía Martínez Garay (Criminal Law) and Ruth M. Mestre.
