Universitat de València will hold the 7th Congress for the International Society of Hispanic Digital Humanities, taking place from 22 to 24 October at the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication and the Faculty of Geography and History. The meeting is inspired by the thinking of humanist Juan Luis Vives and aims to debate on new ways to address research and its relation with the digital area.

The congress title is ‘Ad cognoscendum, agendum vel operandum: compromiso cívico y social de las Humanidades Digitales’ (‘Ad cognoscendum, agendum vel operandum: civic and social commitment for Digital Humanities’) inspired by humanist Juan Luis Vives. With this motto, organisers want to gather specialists who contribute to reflection on the new ways digital tools help address research from different areas of knowledge (art, humanities and social sciences), focusing on new interdisciplinary workplaces and the critical role humanities play in a complex global context and a society dominated by the digital media omnipresence.
For the three days of the congress, there will be five lectures, a poster session and over one hundred and twenty communications distributed in six parallel rooms.  Lectures will be in charge of Anna Bognolo (Università di Verona), Francisco Moreno-Fernández (Universität Heidelberg- Heidelberg Centre for Iberoamerican Studies), Darío Negueruela del Castillo (Hertziana Library - Universität Zürich), Pierre Vernus  (Université Lumière Lyon 2) and Cristina Vidal Lorenzo (Universitat de València).
The congress is organised by Universitat de València Department of Spanish Studies, Department of English and German Studies and Department of Art History with the support of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Society.
