The Equality Unit of the Universitat and the network of Offices to Assist Crime Victims will come together to protect and support state officials, professors and students with protection laws.

LThe Universitat de València and the Department of Justice, Public Administration, Democratic Reforms and Public Liberties will expand the framework of collaboration in the signed agreement to arrange the protocol of coordination between the abovementioned network and the Equality Unit. This protocol will include measures of protection and support for women who are victims of gender violence and are part of the Universitat, such as professors, state officials and students.

It has been decided in a meeting between Mª Vicenta Mestre, principal of the University, and Gabriela Bravo, Valencian Minister of Justice. It has been decided to extend the scope of action of the agreement between the Department and the University in matters of training Justice staff, which is signed every year for 50,000 €. New objectives and more promoted activities on training staff in the Network of Offices will be therefore included in the renewal expected in 2019. Thus, talks and courses will be organised so the academic community get to know the services that the Network offers to any victim of gender violence.

The extension of the agreement to include collaborations between both institutions has occurred due to a stronger presence in university of women who are protected after having been victims of gender violence. Only high-risk victims are under police protection and the rest of them are under supervised surveillance through telematic systems. Upon this fact, the Principal asked for the Valencian Department of Justice assistance to develop protocols and aid for these particular cases that can be applied to the rest of the university community.
