The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.

The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Description of research activity:

Synthesis, characterisation and processing at the micro and nanometric scale of molecular compounds that switch between one or more electronic states. The immediate goal is to obtain new functional materials capable of responding to external stimuli (temperature, pressure, light or analytes) in a controlled and detectable way. The ultimate goal is the integration of these materials in devices such as molecular switches, molecular sensors, molecular memories or opto-electronic devices.

  • Bistable porous molecular materials.Synthesis, characterisation and processing of porous coordination polymers (PCPs or PMOFs) that integrate the spin crossover (SCO) phenomenon. Study of the molecular adsorption capacity and magnetic and optical response of these materials to adsorption-desorption processes.
  • Spin Crossover in liquid crystals.Study of synergies between two phase transitions of different nature, one electronic (spin crossover, SCO) and the other one structural (crystal to liquid crystal). Synthesis and characterisation of new spin-crossover materials with metallogenic properties. Applications.
  • Bistable luminiscent materials.Synthesis and characterisation of new bifunctional molecular materials capable of modulating the luminescent signal of a fluorophore by means of the electronic change that occurs during the spin crossover (SCO). Study of the synergy between luminescence and electronic spin crossover (SCO).
  • Multi-stable Spin Crossover (SCO) Complexes.Study of multistability and multiconmutability in polynuclear metal complexes that show the spin crossover phenomenon (SCO). Synthesis and characterisation of dinuclear, trinuclear, tetranuclear, etc. complexes that show the electronic spin transition phenomenon.
