The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Reference of the Group:
Description of research activity: It is a research group dedicated to the study of tumours of the central nervous system, addressing clinical, neuropathological, genetic, molecular and metabolomic aspects. These studies are carried out in both "in vivo" tumours and "in vitro" experimental models, with a translational orientation with the aim of biopathological characterisation towards the identification of molecular targets with application to diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutics.

Research lines: - Primary GBM. EGFR amplification status and angiogenic / infiltrative phenotypes. Molecular networks..The aim of this work is to define the phenotypic and genetic characteristics of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). To analyse the angiogenic and infiltrative characteristics of the nodular and diffuse pattern of GBM, the genetic profiles and the molecular networks responsible for these GBM patterns in relation to the EGFR receptor amplification profiles.
- Role of microRNA in regulating signaling pathways of EGFR..The aims of this work are to study the expression of miRNAs in high-grade gliomas, such as primary glioblastoma multiforme, secondary glioblastoma and high-grade astrocytoma.
- Development of a cell culture model of GBM, the modulation of gene activity by microRNAs..The aim of this work is to generate experimental models to study the modulation of gene activity by transfection methods (inhibition and overexpression) of miRNAs in primary cell cultures and established glioblastoma multiforme cell lines.
- Development of a model of population analysis and spatial distribution in these neoplasms. This line of work is aimed at establishing models of tumour growth in GBM through the analysis of cell populations in mitosis/cell cycle and their distribution in the tumour, establishing intercellular and intratumoural spatial patterns.
- Metabolomics and microvascular environment of aggressive human glioma characterization by DCE-MRI and genetic study of biopsies..The aims of this work are to characterise the microvascular environment of gliomas and to study the infiltration, migration and invasiveness of these neoplasms using DCE-MRI.
- Clinical, histopathological and genetic characterization in recurrent Meningioma. The aims of this work are to establish morphological and genetic profiles of recurrent meningioma with a diagnostic and prognostic objective.
