The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Description of research activity: Infertility, or the inability to conceive a child, is a medical condition recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) that causes serious health problems for the women affected, as well as significant epidemiological and sociological repercussions for society. It is estimated that this pathology affects 15% of couples worldwide, and its incidence is on the rise. The aim of our activity is to promote and initiate new lines of research that allow us to advance in the knowledge of reproductive medicine, improving assisted reproduction treatments, increasing their success rates and establishing new techniques for the preservation of male fertility.

Scientific-technical goals: - Use of Oxidative stress as a biomarker for embryo viability in human IVF
- Artificial gamete creation through germ line reprogramming from human somatic cells
Research lines: - Male infertility.Our study must be considered an initial attempt to create an in vitro model for the direct conversion of somatic cells from patients with gamete-alterations production into germ cells in vitro, opening the field to discover new cell therapies to treat them in the future.
- Embryo viability.Use of oxidative stress as a biomarker for embryo viability in human IVF and its use as an additional marker to the existing morphokinetic algorithms provided by time-lapse.
