The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.

The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Participants

Data related to research groups featured in various information dissemination channels shall not, under any circumstances, imply a statement or commitment regarding the employment or academic affiliation of individuals associated with the Universitat de València. Their inclusion is solely the responsibility of the group directors. Updates will be made upon request from interested parties.

Modeling Complex Systems: Personality, Brain and Social Systems - MOSISCOM

Reference of the Group:

GIUV2015-246

Description of research activity:

For years we have been working and publishing on the biological basis of personality, especially the brain and genetic mechanisms that underlie human behaviour. In this process we have proposed a theory on the General Personality Factor, and we have created an instrument to assess it. We have also proposed and investigated psychological intervention techniques (based on classical conditioning and suggestion) to modify personality and emotional states. At the same time, we have created complex mathematical models to study the dynamics of personality in the face of external stimuli, especially drugs. In this sense, we have mathematically modelled brain reactions to different drugs as a function of individual differences, while at the same time we have created a dynamic model that explains drug addictions.

Scientific-technical goals:

Research lines:
  • General personality factor.Proposal of a psychobiological model of General Personality Factor (GPF). Creation of an instrument for measuring the GPF.
  • Dynamic socio-economic models.Modelling social systems, values and quality of life, and demographic flows.
  • Psychological intervention and personality.Application of psychological intervention techniques (self-regulation therapy) to modify personality and drug management.
  • Mathematical modelling of brain activity.Mathematical modelling of electroencephalographic (EEG) brain activity in relation to drug effects and from the paradigm of individual differences.
