The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Data related to research groups featured in various information dissemination channels shall not, under any circumstances, imply a statement or commitment regarding the employment or academic affiliation of individuals associated with the Universitat de València. Their inclusion is solely the responsibility of the group directors. Updates will be made upon request from interested parties.

Description of research activity: Today, a more sustainable health system is being pursued in which the individual takes an active role in his or her health care, while adopting healthier lifestyles that prevent secondary pathologies and co-morbidities. In this sense, this group considers, as a research activity, to determine ways of promoting health from Physiotherapy, taking into account the perspective of continuous change to which society is subjected on a daily basis. Specifically, this research group is characterised by its multi-speciality in the field of Physiotherapy, with the advantage that this entails in bringing together various new specialities in this area of health. This group' s research activity aims, from the perspective of various physiotherapy specialities, to address different areas of assessment and intervention in healthy people (health promotion), in health problems of various kinds (chronic pain, haemophilia, neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory and musculoskeletal pathology, women's health) in different population groups, as well as in aspects related to professional ethics and health in physiotherapy.
Web:
Research lines: - Specialized physiotherapy in the abdómino-pelvic-perineal comparment dysfunction..To gain deeper knowledge of the main dysfunctions in the abdominal-pelvic-perineal compartment in the population: women, men and children. To analyse the effectiveness of the different physiotherapy techniques and procedures for physical-functional improvement, thus improving the quality of life of the affected population. To design physiotherapy programmes that are more suited to the population most commonly affected by each pathology. To combine scientific evidence with clinical evidence for greater effectiveness and rigor of treatments.
- Specialized physiotherapy in the musculoskeletal injuries of the patient with hemophilia.Deepen knowledge of common musculoskeletal injuries in patients with haemophilia and their sequelae, as well as design and validate assessment methods. Study the effectiveness of physiotherapy techniques and protocols to improve physical function and quality of life.
- Health Services Research and Public Health Interventions. The research line focuses on research in health services and technologies applied to health, and on the design, implementation and evaluation of health promotion and disease prevention interventions.
- Physiotherapy and secondary prevention in cardiovascular diseases. To assess the effect of therapeutic exercise and physiotherapy on cardiocirculatory function in adults and older adults with cardiovascular disease, as well as to study the effectiveness of strategies to improve adherence to a physically active lifestyle in these subjects.
- Physiotherapy approach in the assessment and therapy for patients with respiratory health problems.Physiotherapy from a global perspective can improve the health of patients with respiratory problems. This line of research aims to develop new tools and implement interventions to assess the prognosis and improve the functional capacity of these patients.
- Chronic musculoskeletal pain; from the pain mechanisms to diagnosis and treatment with physiotherapy..The aim of this line is to investigate the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying chronic pain and to test the therapeutic efficacy of treatments targeting these mechanisms.
- Physiotherapy specialising in neurological pathology, child pathology and psychomotor development..This line focuses on the search for assessment tools and the definition of health promotion and specialised physiotherapy intervention programmes for young children with psychomotor developmental disorders as well as for children or adults with neurological pathologies.
- Professional ethics and health in physiotherapy. To analyse attitudes, professional values and other parameters related to professional ethics and health in physiotherapists, Physiotherapy students and patients. To design and validate assessment tools. To study the effectiveness of innovative programmes on ethics and health in physiotherapy.
