The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Description of research activity: The research group on education for back health has a long history with studies published as early as 1997. The educational aspect of the group was set up in 2011 and was formalised as a group within the Universitat de València in 2020. The group is interdisciplinary and aims to develop quality research that delves into issues of health education. Its work is oriented to the development of research on educational interventions at different levels of the compulsory education system, loyalty of educational implementations, research in teacher training on pedagogical knowledge of content, evaluation of educational methodologies and research and development of instruments for reliable documentation used in decision-making by teachers in educational contexts, research in evaluation of the educational system and the development and implementation of a curriculum that considers health and back care as fundamental aspects in improving the quality of life of citizens. The group also aims to connect knowledge and scientific method with educational practice through the development of research and innovation projects with educational centres using socio-ecological models. The teaching staff of the research group is part of the teaching staff of the Teaching Faculty of the Universitat de València, participating in the Master's Degree in Teacher Training in Secondary Education, specialising in Physical Education and in the Master's Degree in Research in Specific Didactics, specialising in Physical Education, teaching and directing final master's degree projects. Research lines: - Development and assessment of measurement instruments.This line aims to provide valid and reliable instruments for measuring knowledge, habits and attitudes applicable to formal educational contexts based on the most evolved educational theories in order to provide solid ways of collecting evidence and assessing learning.
- Development of pedagogical content knowledge in physical education (back health education).This line aims to investigate the pedagogical knowledge of the content of physical education teachers. The aim is to pay special attention to the teaching of content related to health and back health in order to improve the quality of teaching.
- Design and evaluation of educational interventions.The aim of this line is to work together with educational centres to design, implement and evaluate innovative and effective educational interventions, and to establish processes to ensure their loyalty. The aim is to pay special attention to the contents of education for health and back health using socio-ecological educational models.
