The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Description of research activity: GIBD (Sports Biomechanics Research Group) is conceptualised as a research team within the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (Universitat de València), whose core work is developed in the field of biomechanics applied to physical activity and sport. Its research activity can be seen through different contributions in scientific publications (JCR), communications and papers at conferences of national and international relevance, as well as contributions to book chapters and even the group¿s own manuals on applied sports biomechanics. The main lines of research, materialised through contracts and projects in public calls and/or research contracts, are developed in three main areas:
Sports material and equipment: plantar supports, compressive fabrics, and other textile clothing materials.
Biomechanical analysis, especially in running, walking and cycling.
Assessment and application of sport biomechanics and evaluation of physiological variables. In particular, a large part of this research is based on the analysis and evaluation of products related to physical activity and sport (material and equipment). Since 2012 GIBD is located in the biomechanics laboratory of the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (Blasco Ibáñez Campus, Valencia), and since 2018 we also develop our research in the Biomechanics Laboratory of the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (Ontinyent Campus - Universitat de València).[Read more][Hide]

Scientific-technical goals: - Evaluar desde la perspectiva de la biomecanica variables que permitan la mejora del rendimiento Deportivo.
- Analizar aquellos factores que permitan reducir el riego de lesion y mejora de la practica fisico deportiva desde una vision de la tecnica deportiva y/o ejecucion.
- Analizar el material y equipamiento deportivo atendiendo a sus propiedades desde la biomecanica deportiva, con la finalidad de mejorar el rendimiento deportivo y garantizar una optima practica de la actividad fisica.
