Solemn Ceremony of Investiture of Prof. Dr. Paul de Grauwe as Doctor "Honoris Causa" and 2011-2012 Doctoral Awards Presentation

 

Paul de Grauwe (Uccle, Belgium, 1946) is professor at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, research director of the Center for Economic Studies (CESifo) of the University of Munich and member of the Center for Economic Policy Studies (CEPS).

Doctor by the John Hopkins University, he has taught, among others, at the University of Michigan, the Université libre de Bruxelles, the Tilburg University, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Kiel and the College of Europe. Dr. De Grauwe has worked as an economist for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as a consultant to the Bank of Japan, the Federal Reserve of the United States and the European Central Bank. He has also been a member and senator of the Belgian Parliament.

Doctor 'Honoris Causa' by the universities of Genoa, St. Gallen and the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration, he has several awards and honors, including the Woodrow Wilson, the Prize of the European Communities and the Amex Bank Review Award.

Specialist in open macroeconomics, Dr. De Grauwe is recognised as one of the leading specialists in the study of monetary integration in Europe.
