ValenciaPhoto is the first International Festival of Photography and Debate in València, returning for its fourth eidition. Meeting Point for photographers, curators, image and aesthetic theorists, historians and gallerists among other professionals. Using images, it showcases different perspectives and ways to understand an ever-chaging world. This edition reflects on the art, society and identity structures. Photography as a meeting point for debate and contemporary visual thinking.

The fourth edition brings us to the Wall Room to enjoy the work of Juan Piris Ferrer, self-taught photographer.

Juan Piris Ferrer was born on 31 March 1928 in Cullera and had several professional activities among which, his photographer side stood out. He combined them with his role as owner of a fishing boat and tourism merchant, particularly of photography supplies. Self-taught photographer, he perfected his art by reading Spanish and French specialised magazines. His camera let him capture the main social and institutional events of Cullera. The part of his work regarding the tourismboom and great urban transformation of the 60s is worth noticing.
