Definitive withdrawal from doctoral studies entails voluntary abandonment of the programme before its completion.
This situation implies the loss of the place in the doctoral programme and the termination of the academic relationship.
The granting of definitive withdrawal entails the closure and archiving of the doctoral student's academic record.
Once agreed, the student withdraws from the programme and no longer has access to RAPID, or to any other academic services provided by the University linked to their status as a doctoral student.
Furthermore, if they are readmitted to the same programme through the standard procedure in subsequent academic years, their file will be reactivated at the point at which they withdrew. In any case, the time spent in the doctoral programme counts towards the calculation of the duration of doctoral studies, meaning that they will only have the time remaining to submit their thesis at the time of withdrawal.
Applications for permanent withdrawal submitted before 31 December entitle the student to a refund of the fees corresponding to the academic year in which the application is made.
The doctoral student.
The request for permanent withdrawal may be submitted throughout the academic year.
The Doctoral School.
The procedure is initiated by means of an electronic application from the doctoral student addressed to the Doctoral School. Once the withdrawal has been agreed, the School informs the interested party, the supervisor/director and the respective Academic Committee.
Applications for permanent withdrawal must be submitted exclusively via the UV Electronic Office, and within this, via the Electronic Registry.
