Beatriz Cerezo Merchan holds a BA in Translation and Interpreting from the Universidad de Granada (2006) and a PhD in Translation and Interpreting from the Universitat Jaume I (2012). At present she is a lecturer of Translation and English Language in the Department of English and German Philology at the Universitat de València. Her main areas of research are audiovisual translation and accessibility and the didactics of translation. |

Diana González Pastor, B.A. in Translation and Interpreting at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona (1998), MBA at School of International Studies (2005, ESCI-University Pompeu Fabra) and Ph.D. in Translation and Interpreting at Universitat Politècnica de València (2012). Sworn translator (English-Spanish) since 2000. Lecturer of translation and English language at Universitat de València, Department of English and German Philology. She has led the Research Project DITAPE, Teaching and Researching Machine Translation and Postediting (GV/2021/080), funded by the Conselleria d’Innovació, Universitats, Ciència i Societat Digital of the Valencian Region (2021-2022) and coordinated the education innovation project POSEDITrad (2019-2021). She is secretary of the Interuniversity Institute of Applied Modern Languages of the Valencian Region (IULMA) and codirects its scientific collection of monographs. Her research interests focus on the translation of tourism texts, translation technologies and the didactics of translation. |

Biography | ||
Associate Professor in the Department of English and German Philology at the Universitat de València, Spain, where she has worked since 2014, and researcher at the IULMA institute and the SILVA and TALIS research groups. She holds a PhD in English Philology from the Universitat Politècnica de València (International Mention UPV-UMass Amherst, Massachusetts, USA) and Bachelor's degrees in English Philology and French Philology from the University of Valencia, where she received the Outstanding Graduate Award. Between 2015 and 2016, she coordinated the Area of English Philology and the English for Specific Purposes Teaching Unit in her department. She is the head of the SOCIEMOVE project (2024-2027), funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Spanish Government. She has also led the regional pre-competitive projects iTECLA: Innovative Telecollaborative Environments for Language Acquisition for Specific Purposes, and YES3D: Youth Entrepreneurship for Society in 3D, funded by the Education Department of the Valencian Government; as well as the UNESCO Chair projects: Brazilian Afro-Indigenous Culture in Oral Literature, Music, and Dance: Sustainable Development Goals, Decolonisation, Ecofeminism and Social Inclusion; Literacy with a Gender Perspective in the Dominican Republic: Strengthening Public Education with Women’s Biographies; TALIS Stories of Mindanao for Promoting Global Citizenship; and TALIS Stories of the Dominican Republic: Collection and Dissemination for Promoting Linguistic, Literary, Intercultural, and Solidarity Competencies. She has participated in numerous European, national, regional, UNESCO Chair, and cooperation projects, in addition to leading and participating in various teaching innovation projects. She developed the InGenio FCE Online Tester application within the InGenio project, funded by the UPV: an authoring tool and digital content manager for the online publication of language courses, where free English courses have been published and used by students internationally. She is also a co-author of the contents for 4 Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to learn English, with over 175,000 participants worldwide in each edition, based on the aforementioned application. In addition to publishing several monographs and numerous book chapters with prestigious publishers (Routledge, Springer, De Gruyter, Peter Lang, Tirant, Comares), she has published numerous papers in indexed journals (RECALL, Language Learning and Technology Journal, Computer-Assisted Language Learning Journal, British Journal of Educational Technology, Acta Psychologica, Computers and Education: Artificial Intelligence, Revista de Educación a Distancia), book reviews, and conference proceedings. She has also participated in conferences, seminars, and workshops as an invited speaker, and was also invited as a plenary speaker at the Eurocall 2025 Conference and as a workshop facilitator at the E/LE Forum 2025. She ranks among the 11,000 most cited Spanish researchers with the highest h-index, according to the data collected in 2025 from the CSIC Intramural Project (Ref. 202210E159). She was the section editor of the Eurocall Journal from 2014 to 2024 and has been directing the EMIG collection (Editorial UPV) since 2021. She has received several academic and research awards, including the Enrique Alcaraz Award from the European Association of English for Specific Purposes (AELFE), the Jaclyn Ng Shi Ing Award for Best Presentation at the CALL Research Conference, the Best Research Article Award at TISLID, the Outstanding Graduate Award, and the Academic Excellence Award. She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to conduct research in the Language Center at Harvard University and has also carried out international research stays at: Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, Brazil; University of California, Berkeley, USA; University of Costa Rica; UNICAMP, Brazil; University of Lisbon, Portugal; University of Utrecht, Netherlands; Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Canada; and UMass Amherst, United States. She has also been a visiting professor (with funding from the European Commission as well as various international organisations) at: Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Coventry University, United Kingdom; Grenoble School of Management, France; Bulacan State University, Philippines; Cyprus University of Technology, Cyprus; Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey TEC, Querétaro, Mexico; Universidade Federal da Paraíba, Bananeiras, Paraíba, Brazil; University of Iceland; and Aalto University Helsinki, Finland. Her current research interests include: computer-assisted language learning and assessment; English for specific purposes; teacher training and resource design for educational innovation; 21st-century skills; and intercultural communication through 3D virtual exchange supported by artificial intelligence. |
