The development of reading acquisition literacy skills in bilingual German-Spanish children: An analysis of precursors and influential variables

The objective of this study is to carry out a longitudinal research on the impact of relevant precursor variables in the development of reading and literacy. Children, who learn two languages at school simultaneously, with varying levels of competence in the first and second language (L1, L2) have been evaluated using instruments in both languages at the end of the preschool and the first grade of primary school. In addition, the families were asked to complete a family survey. Results will be discussed and interpreted in light of relevant scientific-literature.

Bio

Kathrin Hohmann va estudiar Pedagogia / Educació infantil (B.A.) i Treball Social amb enfocament en família (M.Sc.). Va fundar una associació d'escoles bressol i va establir tres escoles bressol bilingües (alemany-espanyol) a Berlín. Va treballar com a pedagoga i directora a Alemanya ia l'estranger, incloent quatre anys al Col·legi Alemany de València. És doctoranda a la Universitat de València des de 2018, realitzant una investigació sobre el multilingüisme. A més, escriu textos i llibres pedagògics i realitza entrevistes a experts per a un institut alemany d'educació infantil.
