IDENTIDAD PROFESIONAL DOCENTE DEL PROFESOR UNIVERSITARIO PERUANO DURANTE LA COVID-19

Gloria Gutiérrez Villa

Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP)

In this talk, the results of a doctoral research project will be presented, one that approaches identity from a dialogical and dynamic perspective: a system of self‑positions that are activated and reorganized according to contextual demands. Using a sequential mixed‑methods design (qual – QUAN), this study identified three identity positions associated with the teaching roles exercised during the pandemic: continuity, oriented toward ensuring academic operability and learning achievement; interaction through ICT, focused on pedagogical mediation via technology; and accompaniment, aimed at providing socio‑emotional support to students. The qualitative phase identified the self‑positions and their challenges, while the quantitative phase modeled the relationship between the identity dimensions of these positions, which include the roles performed, teaching styles, satisfaction or frustration of basic psychological needs, and teachers’ affect. Both phases converge in showing that continuity functions as an organizing axis, modulated by interaction and accompaniment.
