Seminar about the proposal for the universal abolition of the death penalty in the context of international Human Rights law.
It aims to delve into the debate concerning the proposal for the universal abolition of the death penalty as a substantial part of the international Human Rights law, particularly from the point of view of the right to life and the proscription of cruel and inhuman sentences. To do so, prof. Arroyo Zapatero, full university professor of Criminal Law, director of the Institute of European and International Criminal Law (University of Castilla La Mancha), founder of the Academic Network against death penalty and president of the Société Internationale de Defènse Sociale; and Joaquín José Martínez, ex-condemned to death penalty and first European to be released from the death row in the United Estates will participate.
