IÑAKI GABILONDO

José Ignacio Gabilondo Pujol, known as Iñaki Gabilondo (San Sebastian, 1942), is a radio and television journalist since 1963, after graduating in Journalism at the University of Navarra. Since then, he has carried out his journalistic activity, often occupying director posts, in the following media: Radio Popular de San Sebastián, Radio San Sebastián, Radio Sevilla, cadena SER in Madrid, Televisión Española, Radio-TV 16, Cuatro TV, Canal Plus - among others - and currently participates in El País and cadena SER with the videoblog "La Voz de Iñaki"

Among his best known programmes are "Hora 25" and "Hoy por Hoy" (during 19 years) in cadena SER, "Noticias Cuatro" and "Hoy" in Canal +, besides his time as director of the TVE news during the period of the 23 February 1981 coup d'état. Among his books, stand out 'Testigo de la historia' (2005), 'Verdades como Puños' (2009) and 'El Fin de una Época. Sobre el Oficio de Contar las Cosas' (2011)

He has received many Spanish and international awards for his outstanding professional carreer, like the Ondas awards (six times), the Ortega y Gasset radio awards, the Gonzalo de Berceo award, the Turia journalism awards, the International Press Club award, the Francisco de Cercedo award, the Parliamentary Journalism award Lluis Carandell or the Clara Campoamor award. He has also been aknowledge for his professional integrity and his unmistakable democratic disposition with various awards and Gold Medals, like the Ghandi, the highest UNESCOS's award for peace and non-violence.
