María Pilar Hernando Serra is a graduate and doctor from the Universitat de València. Professor of History of Law at the Universitat de València, she has worked on different lines of research: administration and municipal economic regime of the Ancient Regime and contemporary times; history of the University; and political and constitutional history (19th-20th centuries). She is the author of two monographs, one in collaboration, on the French administration in Valencia during the War of Independence, as well as other publications on the Cortes de Cádiz and this historical period, in addition to numerous publications in scientific journals and books on the other subjects of her research. Her latest monograph (Tirant lo Blanch, 2020), has dealt with Valencian statuary in the years of the Second Republic.

Since she joined the university until the present day, she has participated uninterruptedly in research projects (R&D) funded by the Ministry, the Valencian Government and other private institutions, such as the BBVA Foundation. Projects directed by researchers from the Universitat de València, the University of Huelva and the Carlos III University of Madrid on the history of Universities and by the University of Alicante on Public History.

She carried out research stays at the University of Murcia, as well as at the Università di Roma La Sapienza, the Università Bocconi di Milano and the Università di Bologna. She has been a member of the teaching staff of the Scuola Estiva di Alta Formazione Montalbano-Elicona of the Università degli Studi di Messina (Italy) in the field of the International Interuniversity Research Doctorate in "Storia e comparazione delle istituzioni politiche e giuridiche europee".

As a lecturer, she has participated in educational innovation programmes and projects, in the "Clínica Jurídica per la Justícia Social" of the Universitat de València and has been a lecturer in the Master's Degree in International and European Union Studies since 2012. She has also taught in the undergraduate degrees of Political Science and Public Administration, Law and in the double degrees ADE-Law and Law-Political Science and Public Administration.

In terms of management work, she has been a member of the Academic Committee of the Degree in Political Science and Public Administration since 2010. She has been coordinator of the History of Law Area and, since January 2011, coordinator of the double degree in Law-Political Science and Public Administration.
