The Legal Clinic for Social Justice of the University of Valencia is mourning today for the death of our colleague Carmelo Lozano. We have lost an excellent clinical professor, a brilliant jurist and law expert, a good person, and a friend and colleague in unforgettable years.

He had a strong commitment to social justice. He co-mentored two reports in the legal clinic always with the intention of helping people in a socially disadvantaged situation. The fisrt one, request by CERMI-CV, was an study of the co-payment imposed by Generalitat Valenciana on the provision of certain social services. This reposrt served to fight this decree in Court, and it was finally overruled in 2014. Moreover, he directed a broader report in the same field of expertise, that served as a support for a non-legislative motion presented in the Congress by the Socialist Group.

He has always been available for the Clinic whenever we needed him, collaborating with his expertise in many fields, helping students to better understand the puporse of the legal system itself.

We will always miss him and carry him in our hearts.
