The articles of academic and scientific dissemination of the scientific community of the University of Valencia are available on The Conversation Spain platform since September, according to the agreement signed by both institutions. The Conversation is the world’s leading channel of dissemination of knowledge that emanates from universities.

Born in Australia, it has editions in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Indonesia and Africa. The Spanish edition was launched in the summer of 2018 and in a single year it has achieved 16 million readings thanks to the republication of articles in 170 media, a list that includes large Spanish media (El País, Cadena SER, ABC, La Vanguardia, eldiario.es, Huffington Post or Publico) and also Latin American ones (Infobae, Ciper, Univisión), among many others.

The Conversation aims to promote a permanent conversation between experts who write on topics related to their specialty and a reading community that demands quality content. Its database includes 55,000 authors and authors from 2,300 universities and international research centres.

Established as a non-profit association with a vocation for public service, without commercial advertising, and free and open access, The Conversation España has the support of more than thirty academic and scientific institutions and foundations. All the bilateral agreements that The Conversation is signing with the universities are linked to the framework collaboration agreement that the platform signed a year ago with the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE Universidades Españolas).

The staff of the University of Valencia may write in The Conversation España (TCES) on matters related to their field of expertise. In addition to having directly proposed topics, the subject of the articles can be raised by the TCES editorial team, by universities and research centres and by readers.

Through this tool, the university community of the Valencian academic institution intends to continue transferring scientific knowledge to society and fostering debate on matters of public interest with responsible, ethical and data-backed journalism. Also create an online open space to share best practices and collaborate in the development of sustainable and intelligent responses and promote an independent forum from an editorial point of view, based on proven data, and oblivious to political or commercial deviations.

In exchange for this transfer of knowledge, the staff of the University of Valencia receives media and intra-institutional relevance and social and professional recognition. In many cases, the authors, after publishing in TC, receive requests from the media or institutions to discuss their field of knowledge.
