The bryophyte herbarium of the Universitat de València, VAL-Briof., has been collecting specimens of great interest, among which 4 types are deposited. Despite being a collection that began in 1976, the oldest samples that remain date back more than a century and correspond to materials that escaped the flames of the 1932 fire.
The funds of the VAL-Briof Herbarium have been reference material for the realization of the "Iberian Briofitic Flora" project in its successive phases since it contains a good representation of the morphological variability of the species of the Valencian territory and of the south of the Iberian System.
