The Collection of Histology and Plant Anatomy is basically made up of permanent preparations of various structures, mostly sections of several plants organs. These preparations are kept in the anatomy laboratory ‘Julio Iranzo’ of the Botanical Garden, keeping duplicates of the samples in the Botany laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy, where today it is still used for teaching purposes. The plant anatomy as the basic science give us a tool for the detailed knowledge of the organs and tissues of plants and help us to make visible the disposition of the different elements and compounds in the cells, to understand the adaptation mechanisms, their physiology, structural modifications that can happen due to changes in the natural environment, as well as to understand the ontogenetic processes, being able to help establish correctly certain relationships of kinship between species, genera and families.
