Bruno Tortosa Jorques. Classical Philology

Bruno Tortosa Jorques

12 june 2018

The discovery of Latin thanks to my teachers, together with the curiosity to know the world and the Greco-Latin culture, was the impulse to start my studies of Classical Philology at the University of Valencia. This Degree allows the student to enter the study of classical languages and provides valuable philological competence. Even so, not only is the language studied, but also its culture, which is the cradle of our society, is deepened. Therefore, in addition to the subjects of translation, the subjects of linguistics and literature, as well as history and religion, are also relevant, as they make it possible to understand and analyse the texts. In my case, once I finish my degree, I want to study the Master's Degree in Teaching at Secondary School, although I would like to specialize later on in what I finally find to my liking and also be able to work in publishing houses or in the media.

I didn't really know if this degree would be to my liking, but I have discovered that it is the one I really like, since it is a great satisfaction to be able to get to know the culture on which today's society is based and, in particular, to know the origins of our language. Even so, this degree requires a great personal effort to try to study an ancient culture and all that it entails.
