The Departments are responsible of organizing and developing research, teaching and other activities. They have competence to give each professor their corresponding teaching responsibilities, solve conflicts within the department and elaborate a teaching and research action plan. Each department has a director and a secretary who are responsible for the department's management and who chair the Department's Council meetings (which is the highest decision body). Some departments are internally organized in Teaching Units, where professors are groupped with the teaching of related subjects. Administrative management of the departments are carried out by members of the Administrative and Services Staff (PAS).
