Last Friday, Carles Padilla was elected new Dean at Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació. He gained 26 votes in favor while the other candidate, José Antonio Calañas, gained 13. There was only one blank vote. The Dean’s team will be made up of Francesc Martínez Gallego, Begonya Pozo, Ana Rosa Calero, Amparo Ricós, and Rafael Roca. Padilla is replacing María José Coperías, who was the last Dean of the centre.

 

 

Carles Padilla Carmona (València, 1964) is a lecturer of Latin philology. He graduated at Universitat de València in 1987 and gained a position as secondary school teacher. Meanwhile, he studied to get a PhD under the supervision of Ismael Roca Melià. He became a doctor in 1994 and received the highest mark. In this same year, he entered the Departamento de Filología Clásica of this university to work as an assistant lecturer.

As an assistant lecturer, tenured lecturer of university school and university tenured lecturer, he has focused his research and teaching in the Latin and Indo-European linguistics field, and has published many papers.

Padilla is currently directing the master’s degree called Investigación en Lenguas y Literaturas. He is a member of the faculty’s board and he represents the faculty at teaching committees and at language policy committees, too. Moreover, he has been secretary in the classic philology department and secretary of the faculty.
