The collection of books on Japan donated by the Read Japan Project has arrived at the University of Valencia  to support Japanese Studies at the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication. The collection will be available for the university community as well as for other students and researchers interested in Japan from different disciplines at the Joan Reglà Humanities Library. The application submitted by Dr. Marcos Centeno from the Faculty in coordination with the Humanities Library, was approved thanks to a recommendation from the Consulate General of Japan in Barcelona, which has acted as an intermediary as an official office of the Japanese government abroad. The collection has 182 titles, with an estimated value of €10,000.

The objective of Read Japan Project is to promote understanding of Japan by donating Japan-related books in English-language to universities and libraries around the world. The project is administered by the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research and is financially supported by Nippon Foundation, with collaboration from the Japan Publishing Industry Foundation for Culture (JPIC) which has been in charge of the shipment of the books to Valencia. In addition, the Read Japan Project has made another donation to the UV Language Center, consisting of books selected by Professor Raúl Fortes and aimed at Japanese language students.
