EspaiPòdcastUV has launched this week, on the first anniversary of the October 29 flooding disaster, the program ‘DANA in First Person’ a collective project open to the participation of students, professors, and staff from the Faculty of Philology, Translation, and Communication.

The goal of this initiative is to experiment with the podcast format and co-creation methodology to encourage reflection on the October 29, 2024 DANA event, through the voices of members of the university community who experienced this historic episode of flooding,” explains Journalism professor Maria Josep Picó, director of EspaiPòdcastUV.

The first episodes of the podcast will focus on the testimonies from the municipality of Utiel about October 29, sharing accounts and reports included in the Journalism student Manuel Viana’s Final Degree Project titled ‘Utiel, the First Submerged City’.

The icon for ‘DANA in First Person’ is an illustration by Rosa Deltoro, generously donated by the author for the educational and academic use of the initiative. Rosa Deltoro—who combines her illustration projects with teaching at the Faculty of Fine Arts of San Carlos at the Polytechnic University of Valencia—contributed this artwork to the book ‘Scientific Evidence: Effects, Strategies, and Public Policies on Climate Change and Territory in the Iberian Mediterranean’. coordinated by professors Ana Camarasa and Joan Romero, published this year by the University of Valencia.
