The FFTIC hosts the 2nd International Conference on Gender and Sexuality in Spanish Cinema

Professors Isolina Ballesteros, Charo Lacalle Zalduendo and Sonia Kerfa will participate in the 2nd International Conference on Gender and Sexuality in Spanish Cinema, to be held from 26 to 28 November at the FFTIC of the University of Valencia.

The Second International Conference on Gender and Sexuality in Spanish Cinema: Contemporary Audiovisual Representations, organised by the TECNOGEN research project from 26 to 28 November, will bring together specialists in twelve sessions on a variety of topics: Almodóvar: poetics of the body; female authorship; sex-gender diversity; family and filiation; masculinities; gender, image, rurality; sexual violence; bodily and functional diversity; motherhood and non-motherhood; experimentalism, feminism and the body; sexual harassment, consent, #MeToo; and stereotypes, image, rurality. In addition, we are delighted to announce that three internationally renowned professors will be in attendance as guests. The inaugural lecture will be given by Isolina Ballesteros, Professor of Iberian and Latin American Studies at the City University of New York (New York, United States), and will be entitled 'Sorority, activism and impact on recent film production'. Charo Lacalle Zalduendo, Professor of Journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Director of the Observatory of Spanish Fiction and New Technologies, will give a lecture entitled 'Evolution and trends in the representation of female sexuality in television fiction'. Finally, Professor Sonia Kerfa of Visual Arts and Gender Studies at the Université de Grenoble-Alpes (France) will deliver the concluding presentation, titled 'The anti-necropolitical gaze: a feminist practice in audiovisual productions'.

The conference is part of a research project called 'Gender Technologies in Spanish Audiovisual Culture in the New Millennium' (PID2022-138974NA-I00). This project is funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the State Research Agency and the European Regional Development Fund (MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/FEDER, EU). The Principal Investigator (PI) is Silvia Guillamón Carrasco (University of Valencia).
