Japan Foundation, Madrid and Harvard at the Japanese Studies Certificate, UV

The Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication receives the director of the Japan Foundation, Madrid, Mrs. Keiko Morito, the coordinator of activities of the foundation Ms. Risa Imamura, and the chair of the Department of the East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University, David Howell, professor of Japanese history, on Friday, 7th June 2024. Representatives of the Japan Foundation and Harvard met the Vice Dean of Internationalization Enrique Cerezo, the Vice Dean of Culture, Rosa Álvarez and the teaching staff members of the Certificate in Japanese Studies, Marcos Centeno and Raúl Fortes and the director of studies at the UV Language Center, Daniel Adell, to talk about the promotion of Japanese studies at the UV.

 The Japan Foundation already supports the Japanese Studies Certificate, which had more than 130 applications for 30 available places. Professor David Howell's lecture was followed by the event with the Japan Foundation coordinated by Marcos Centeno. Risa Imamura explained the grant programmes available at the Japan Foundation, and Keiko Morito presented the JFFO (Japan Film Festival Online), which continued with the screening for the first time in Spain of Kimba The White Lion (Janguru Taitei , Eiichi Yamamoto, 1966), first Japanese colour animated feature film, which was subtitled into Spanish for this film series. The event was also attended by Dr. Matías Chiappe, lecturer in Japanese literature at El Colegio de México, who had been invited by Dr. Jordi Serrano, lecturer in contemporary literature for the UV Japanese Studies Certificate, and talks about possible collaborations with Japanese Studies in Mexico also took place.
