Teachers Purificació Mascarell and Verónica Zaragoza, both from the field of Literature Theory included in the Department of Language Theory and Communication Sciences, head the International Congress “Captive speeches: woman, writing and seclusion” which will take place online on 8 and 9 April 2021.

The major goal of this encounter is to deeply approach the different ways of seclusion which have influenced women and still do, as well as the diverse methods of representing and narrating them. That’s why the congress gathers research studies that analyze a specific kind of texts written as a testimony of a personal or collective seclusion experience (such as diaries, memoirs, epistolary documents, autobiographical texts…) just as those which reflect on literary fiction, using it to represent the isolation and submission experienced by women under those circumstances.

The entire programme of the congress is available in: Everyone interested in following it through video streaming is invited to write a mail to asistentescautivos@gmail.com in order to sign up as a conference attendant. In return, everyone who joins in will be given an attendance certificate stating the hours of participation. The deadline for registering is 31 March 2021.
