Description of research activity:

Under the acronym MONETAE, the Research Group in Monetary Dynamics, Scarcity and Sustainability bases its activity on the empirical and theoretical study of contemporary economic challenges. Our research addresses how monetary dynamics and macroeconomic imbalances generate external vulnerabilities that condition the stability of economies. In parallel, we integrate the socioeconomic dimension of scarcity and natural resource management as essential pillars of the ecological transition. Furthermore, we expand the study of financial markets by evaluating the challenges of financial inclusion, analyzing how digitalization and behavioral factors impact equitable access and the decision-making process of economic agents.

Scientific-technical goals:
  • El objetivo fundamental del Grupo de Investigación MONETAE (Dinàmica Monetària, Escassetat i Sostenibilitat) es analizar cómo las dinámicas monetarias y la escasez de recursos condicionan la estabilidad socioeconómica. Nuestra investigación reexamina la teoría económica integrando el estudio de las vulnerabilidades externas, las restricciones físicas del entorno natural y los desafíos de la inclusión financiera impulsados por la digitalización y el comportamiento humano.
 
Research lines:
  • Monetary dynamics and external vulnerability..Analyzes external sector imbalances and the different sources of international vulnerability, such as the sustainability of public and external debt. The central objective is to study how the financial position and global shocks condition monetary dynamics and macroeconomic stability.
  • Socioeconomic analysis of natural resources.Analyzes the intersection between the economy and the environment using input-output frameworks. It studies how public policies and external shocks affect the productive structure in the face of natural resource scarcity, evaluating their impact on socioeconomic resilience, with special attention to sustainable transitions in energy and marine contexts.
  • Challenges of financial inclusion.Economic analysis of the challenges of financial inclusion in the global population.
