The entrance to all activities is for free.
Year after year, we celebrate the Festival of Science at the Botanical Garden of the Universitat de València in these days dedicated to the scientific knowledge dissemination. This year, the activities focus on recycling.
Attention! A hurricane has brought a lot of wastes to the Botanical Garden. Do you want to help us to pick them up and clean the Garden? There are all kinds and different sources of waste, and apart from cleaning, we will also recycle: each waste goes to the correspondent container: glass goes to the glass container, which is green: plastic goes to the plastic container, which is yellow, and cardboard goes to the cardboard container, which is blue. By each piece of waste that you pick up and bring to the “recycling point” within the Botanical Garden, you will make a workshop. By this way, if you help us, you will be able to participate in the realisation of the recycling workshops.
The workshops available to participate are the following:
- Recycle glass! You will make a beautiful pitcher. Besides, we will explain where the glass comes from and why it has to be recycled.
- Recycle cardboard!
- You will make tulips flowers with this material. After that, you will colour and put them in the glass pitcher.
- Moreover, you will also make recycled paper. And we will explain you curious things about the energy saving, we will give you handy tips, etc.
- Recycle plastic! We are sure that you will like it, because you will make a small greenhouse to some plants that we will give you. After, you will only need to take care of it at home.
And… you will learn how compost is made, to get to know the animals that live there, you will know what we have to do with used batteries, and with old mobile phones, and we will give you some tips for your home, etc.
In addition of the workshops and the storytelling, you will be able to visit a small exposition of things made of recycled materials. Pay attention, because there will be something that you can do as a Christmas present, for sure.
Besides, like every year, there will be a storytelling (at the Shade House of the Garden) that will make us enjoy with its funny stories about recycling.
There are many options to general public:
- From 11th November to 6th January, there is an exhibit called L’art més menut al Botànic, at the Botanical Garden. This exhibit is about nanoart and nanoconfluences: artistic look to everything which is extremely small, which is organised by the cultural association Piratas de la Ciencia and the Botanical Garden. A fusion of art and science, where art is inspired by the advances of science. It will be seen at L’Estufa Freda of the Garden and the Tropical Greenhouse. More information:

- The same day of the Festival of science, the Joan Plaça auditorium of the Botanical Garden, at 12 noon, one of the Autumn Concerts by Quartet Aulos will take place. The entrance is for free. More information:
