Emeritus Professor of the University of Valencia José Adolfo de Azcárraga takes on the responsabilityas new president of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics

Jose Adolfo de Azcarraga, full university professor of Theoretical Physics, IFIC member and emeritus professor at the University of Valencia, has taken over as president of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics (RSEF). During the same meeting of the Board of Governors of the RSEF, also a professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Valencia Miguel Angel Sanchis has agreed to a vice-chairmanship.

The Faculty of Physics of the University of Valencia is among the 100 best in the world according to the latest ranking of Shanghai (the only Spanish physics faculty in this ranking).

In addition to his extensive teaching and research activities in Spain and abroad, Professor Azcarraga has distinguished himself as communicator and lecturer in defense of science. He has also been very active in the life of the University of Valencia. Since joining this one, he has been cloistered six times, including the constituent period, and he was the most voted professor of the Faculty of Physics at the current Cloister elections.

Azcarraga was part of the Committee of Experts that delivered the 'Report to the Reform and Improvement of Quality and Efficiency of the Spanish University System' to the Education Minister on 12 February.
