The Inter‐university Institute for Local Development celebrates this Thursday, 10 April, a day of analysis entitled “Implications derived from the entry into force of the Law of Rationalisation and Sustainability of the Local Governments: a view from the local development”. The session, which begins at 9:00, will be held at the Paranimf of the University of Valencia (carrer Universitat, 2).

After several weeks of effective travel, the Law of Rationalisation and Sustainability of the Local Governments is a reality, the organisers explain, so “Local Governments are now facing their interpretation and application”. The correct understanding of the meaning of the Law, they claim, “depends a large part on the effectiveness, efficiency and savings they can get from city councils, municipalities, regional governments and autonomous regions”. And all, they add, “in a budgetary framework with significant limitations and restrictions”.

From these premises, John Noguera, director of the IIDL considers “urgent and necessary to provide to the local public governments and all stakeholders involved in the local process, well-constructed and oriented discussion forums as the one to be held this Thursday at our University”.
