This collection of stereoscopic photographs is a reflection on the photographic vision of Demetrio Ribes Marco, a Valencian architect active between 1902 and 1921.
They are photographs taken by him between 1908 and 1918 all over Spain: Barcelona, Lleida, San Sebastián, Zaragoza, Pamplona, Segovia, Madrid, Toledo, Córdoba, Granada, Seville, Valencia and other, smaller urban centres. These images represent an encounter with history and its dialogue with the present, the everyday nature of constructed works, an interest in rural life and the architect’s presence at fairs and exhibitions. The exhibition also shows us another side to the architect; he is shown to be a keen photographer, whose gaze reveals the driving forces behind his work. His double-sided profile as an architect and builder sheds light on his deep relationship with the world of engineering, his open mind in terms of new architectural languages and construction systems, his dynamic, enterprising attitude towards society and his respect of architecture from the past.
