This exhibition, organised by the Valencian Ministry of Housing, Public Works and Territorial Planning via the Demetrio Ribes Chair, is titled El Camp de Morvedre. Indrets i paisatges de l’obra pública (El Camp de Morvedre. Public works spaces and landscapes) and displays a selection of 17 preserved elements of public works and transport in the Valencian region.
The exhibition offers an approach structured around the various existing networks in the region, like the road, railway and maritime networks, as well as telecommunications, water and defence networks. Within a broad chronological and typological range, it presents highly prestigious elements of the area’s heritage, such as the remains of the Via Augusta or the Grau Vell fortress, as well as other, lesser-known sites, like the semaphore tower inside Sagunto Castle, the bridges over the Palancia river and the Linares and La Maladitxa gullies. Other, more sprawling infrastructures are also highlighted, such as the three railway lines that serve the region and the water network, including Sagunto’s main irrigation canal and the Font de Quart.
