The University of Valencia (UV) has improved its position among Spanish universities compared to January and is now third in Spain in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, a classification of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) that measures the presence and visibility of institutions on the web. The institution, moreover, occupies the 203rd position worldwide among 11,991 centres –a better place than six months ago– and is first in the Valencian Community.

The Webometrics ranking is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a CSIC research group that has published this ranking twice a year since 2004. The UV is only surpassed in the Spanish university system as a whole by the University of Barcelona, and by the Complutense University of Madrid, while at European level it ranks 65th. On an international scale, Webometrics is led by the Universities of Harvard and Stanford, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

By indicators, in Openness/Transparency, an indicator that measures the number of citations of its main authors, according to Google Scholar Citations, the University occupies the world position number 186. In another indicator, Excellence, on the number of articles academics published in high-impact international journals included among the 10% most cited in the respective disciplines, the UV ranks 231 worldwide. In terms of Impact and Visibility, it is number 270, referring to the number of backlinks or external networks with links that point to the University of Valencia).
