An essential element of strategic planning is the measurement of the degree of achievement of institutional objectives. So, linked to any Strategic Plan there has to exist a System of Indicators associated to the strategic objectives related to this Plan.

Therefore, the Systems of Indicators constitute an essential tool to measure the effectiveness of the plans; but they are also valuable to identify the improvements that have to be introduced in the institution that adopts them.

At the University of Valencia, the Analysis and Planning Service (SAP) coordinates the design and maintenance of the System of Indicators for each Strategic Plan, with the collaboration of all university units.
