The University of Valencia, the only institution in the Valencian Community among the seven Spanish universities selected in the THE Reputation Ranking
The University of Valencia has entered the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings for the first time in its 2025 edition and is one of only seven Spanish institutions recognised, being the only one from the Valencian Community. This ranking classifies the best universities worldwide based on academic reputation and prestige. The University of Valencia stands out alongside 300 other institutions from 38 countries and territories.

The University of Valencia among the top 100 higher education institutions worldwide in four subjects, according to the Shanghai ranking
The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), or Shanghai Ranking by subjects, has ranked the University of Valencia (UV) among the world’s top 100 institutions in four areas: Remote Sensing (42nd position), Food Science and Technology (ranked 51-75), Tourism (51-75) and Business Administration (51-75). Of the 30 subjects analysed, the institution ranks first in Spain for Business Administration and Law, second for Remote Sensing, and third for Tourism. In twenty of the areas, it is among the top five in the country. At the regional level, the UV ranks first in seventeen areas.

Seven scientists from the University of Valencia among the most cited in the world, according to a ranking by Stanford University
Six male and one female researchers from the University of Valencia (UV) are ranked among the 100 most cited scientists from Spanish universities and among the 7,000 most cited worldwide, according to the classification published by Stanford University and Elsevier BV. This ranking identifies the top 2% of the most cited scientists globally in 2023. A total of 130 scientists from the Valencian academic institution are featured in this list.

The University of Valencia increases by 7.77% the citations of scientific articles by its researchers in the last year
The University of Valencia (UV) is the third Spanish higher education academic centre with the highest number of citations of the scientific articles of its teachers and researchers, according to the institutional version of the InCites Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database, and it goes from 776,664 in the 2023 edition to 837,061 in this year’s, a 7.77% increase. By fields of knowledge, the academic institution leads the ranking in Spain in Agricultural Sciences and also in Economics and Business, and tops most subject classifications among Valencian universities. In hot articles by subject, the UV improves nine positions and reaches the 31st place in the world in Economy/Business.

The University of Valencia, among the top 50 positions in the world in seven subjects out of five rankings
In 2023, the University of Valencia (UV) has achieved average position 235 in world rankings with a focus on scientific or bibliometric production, according to the annual executive summary of the Analysis and Planning Service (SAP). At the Spanish level, the institution obtains an average third position in the authorship and impact indicators (citations or H Index), and fourth place in production indicators. In addition, it leads the top 50 positions in the world in seven subjects out of five rankings.

The University of Valencia exceeds two and a half million citations of its scientific articles, 31.81% more than 2023, according to the Transparent Ranking
The University of Valencia (UV) is the third Spanish higher education centre and the first in Valencia in the latest update of the Transparent Ranking: Top Universities by Citations in Top Google Scholar, which analyses the citations of the authors’ scientific articles of each institution. Between 2023 and 2024 is when the UV has increased the number of citations of its articles the most, going from 2,047,064 to 2,698,389 (651,325 more, an increase of 31.81%).

The University of Valencia is already third in Spain in the Webometrics ranking in terms of web presence and visibility
The University of Valencia (UV) has improved one place compared to January 2023, and is already third in Spain in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, a classification of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) that measures the web presence and visibility of institutions. The institution, in addition, is first in the Valencian Community, and improves 16 places in the world classification, reaching position 188, among 11,991 centres.

The University of Valencia is among the best higher education centres in the world in sustainability
The University of Valencia (UV) has been ranked among the best in the world in the QS Sustainability Ranking ® university ranking, which classifies 1,403 of these centres through governance, environmental and social impact. Specifically, the institution ranks 71st in the world in governance, which evaluates transparent decision-making, an ethical organisational culture, student representation in governing bodies, and financial transparency.

The Highly Cited Researchers global ranking places five scientists from the University of Valencia among the most cited in the world
Gustau Camps-Valls, Francisco J. Barba, Andrés Cervantes, Juli G. Pausas and Domingo Ribeiro Soriano, researchers at the University of Valencia (UV), appear in the Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) 2023, a ranking that, according to the provider of bibliometric data Clarivate Analytics, includes the world’s scientific elite in terms of the number of citations of their research works.

The University of Valencia leads the Shanghai Ranking by subjects in Spain in Business Administration, Tourism and Law
The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), or Shanghai Ranking by subjects, has confirmed the University of Valencia (UV) among the 50 best in the world in four areas (Remote Sensing, world position 26; and Business Administration, Science and Food Technology and Tourism, all three in place 48). In addition, it is the best in Spain in three areas (Business Administration and also Tourism; and Law, in the 1-2 range). Of the 29 subjects analysed, the University of Valencia is the absolute first in the Valencian area in 20, and in the Spanish area it is the absolute second in two other areas: Atmospheric Sciences and Remote Sensing.
