'The University of Valencia tries to make come true an open, plural, conciliatory society, where everyone may find their place, without any distinction of origins nor conditions', expressed the University's principal, Esteban Morcillo, in the award ceremony of the distinction Ability Awards 2012 to the University in the category of 'Best organisation of the public sector'.

The University of Valencia has among its values written in the Statues and in the Strategic Plan 2012-2015 with the principles of equality, social progress, solidarity and justice.
Therefore, the University of Valencia promotes positive actions so that the people with special needs derived from a disability may fully and effectively develop its university activity.

From the Unit for the Integration of People with Disabilities (UPD) specific programmes aimed to the members of the university communities are developed, while in the framework of the Sustainable Campus programme actions aimed towards guaranteeing universal accessibility are implemented, as well as providing equal opportunities, awareness, and training, integrated in its line of action 'Accessibility Programme'.
