The GIEAIED humanities research group is led by the professors of the area of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Valencia. The medium-term aim is to integrate an interdisciplinary team of researchers from various fields and disciplines, as well as from other universities and research centres, based at the University of Valencia, a leader in research within the field of Arab and Islamic studies to date. The idea to establish this group was born from the desire to bring together its members' work in the field of research, as well as to have a tool that supports them at an administrative level. The GIEAIED's activities will focus on research and teaching, carried out in a complementary manner. Taking into account that the means and tools available in this scientific field continue to be scarce, especially in digital terms, we will aim to systematise and strengthen resources to enable dedication to research that is essential in university teaching, other stages of teaching and, in addition, the employment projection of Arabism. The GIEAIED group will work in the fields of Arabism that are historically, socially and geographically close to it (see "Lines of research in progress and directors of each" of this application). The historical heritage and the unalterable and unquestionable reality of the proximity of the Iberian Peninsula and the Arab world (especially the nearby north Maghreb coast) will be the foundations of the essential pieces of its work. GIEAIED's objectives, in addition to research, are to carry out training and dissemination beyond teaching through activities, such as courses, conferences, etc., favoring the use and implementation of digital media for greater dissemination. Regarding the dissemination of the results of the research carried out by the current members of the group, there are numerous publications and contributions to scientific dissemination forums. Until applying for this group to be created, the GIEAIED's members have been collaborating with institutions and publishers inside and outside of Spain, with the conviction that external collaboration must constitute one of the core areas of the group's activity. At the same time, the use of digital media will be another of the group's core areas of action, in an era of constant and tremendous change towards an era dominated by digital technology. This dissemination is useful not only for providing information on the activities carried out within GIEAIED but also to serve as a channel of knowledge of the cultural training to which we dedicate our efforts as researchers, teachers and professionals of Arabism. This research work will be carried out, on the one hand, through the research projects in which GIEAIED's members participate and, on the other hand, independently. The projects are the following: · PGC2018-097011-B-I00 "Biografías marginales: violencia, sexo, género e identidad. Edición y análisis de las fuentes documentales valencianas de la época foral" from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of the Government of Spain, directed by professors Vicent Escartí and Rafael Roca (https://biografiesmarginals.com/); · AICO2021/099 "Violència de gènere i identitats: edició i estudi de documentació valenciana per a la construcció de biografies marginals II (ss. XVI-XVII)", from the Ministry of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society of the Generalitat Valenciana, directed by professors Vicent Escartí and Rafael Roca (https://www.alsmarges.com/); · Toponímia de l'Arc Mediterrani (PID2020-114216RB-C65), del Toponomasticon Hispaniae, funded by the MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/, directed by Professor Emili Casanova of the University of Valencia. Independently: · Work will be carried out on the analysis of the Epistles of the Brethren of Purity (Rasaìl Ijwan as-Safà, 10th century), key texts of medieval Islamic thought whose impact on Arab-Muslim philosophy and mysticism continues to the present day. · Studies on the work and figure of the Valencian Mudéjar 'Abd Allah Ibn al-Sabbah (14th-15th century) will be continued. · Within the current literary manifestations, work will be carried out on the analysis and translation into Spanish and Valencian of the collection of female rap music produced in the Maghreb, specifically Tunisia, from the Arab revolutions of 2011. These lyrical compositions will be translated and analyzed from a gender perspective, as is necessary within the current trends and policies in equality. · The linguistic landscape of Tunisia, mainly, will be analysed. Within this linguistic landscape are the advertising posters, signs, graffiti, ATMs, etc. that make up the linguistic landscape that ordinary citizens consciously and unconsciously observe every day. This analysis will be used to establish provisional results on the role played by this linguistic landscape in the unofficial standardisation of Arabic dialects. Conducting this line of research in this field of research is a novelty within Arab and Islamic Studies, in which the applicants have been working continuously since 2013. · Regarding current Arabic literature, our work will focus on the co-supervision of two doctoral theses, one on Algerian novels in the 1950s, and the other on the work of a current Tunisian author who writes in Arabic dialect.

- To study Arab and Islamic societies and their relationships with medieval, modern, and contemporary Europe. The work to achieve this objective will be carried out in two ways. Firstly, within the studies that the GIEAIED members will conduct in the projects mentioned in the research activity description. The results of the studies carried out over the next 3 years will be disseminated through: · Participation in the activities programmed annually within these projects, such as national and international symposia. · Participation in other forums for debate and scientific meetings, such as the biennial international congresses organized by the research group "Andalusian Heritage. Culture, Documents and Landscape," directed by Professor Fatima Roldan Castro of the University of Seville. · Publication of events on the various social networks in which we participate, as well as on the project website. ¿ At least one publication per group member is planned for the next three years in prestigious journals within the field of Arabic and Islamic Studies, to disseminate the significant results of these studies. ¿ Editing and publication of a monograph on the Epistles of the Brethren of Purity (Rasa'il Ijwan as-Safa, 10th century) by a renowned publisher, by 2023. ¿ Research stays at the University of Oxford, where some of the medieval manuscripts of these epistles are housed, planned for the 2022-2023 academic year. ¿ Participation in other international forums and scientific meetings, at least once a year, to present the results and progress of this study. Furthermore, the results and data will be included within the content of the Literature (2nd language) subjects: Arabic, Literature and Culture in Arabic 1 and Literature and Culture in Arabic 2 of the Arabic Minor, either as appendices to topics already proposed or in the development of research seminars scheduled for at least the next three academic years.
- To study and disseminate the Andalusian cultural heritage (history, society, literature, art) of Spain and the Valencian Community. This objective will be achieved in two ways. Firstly, within the studies carried out by GIEAIED members in the toponymy of the Mediterranean Arc project. The results of the studies conducted under this project over the next three years will be published: · Participation in the activities programmed annually within this project, such as participation as a lecturer in the 2022-2023 Postgraduate Diploma course in Valencian Toponymy and Onomastics, organized by the project at the University of Lleida. Participation falls under topic 2, "The Languages ¿¿of Hispania and Peninsular Toponymy," specifically, "Arabic toponymy." ¿ Participation in other debate forums and scientific meetings, such as the international congresses organized within this project, for the years 2023 and 2024. ¿ Promotion of events on the various social media platforms in which we participate, as well as on the project's website. ¿ In cases where the research provides significant data, at least one publication is planned within the next 3 years in prestigious journals within the discipline of Arabic and Islamic Studies or Medieval History. The first contribution towards this objective would be the publication of the study entitled: "Linguistic Traces of the Andalusian Period in the Geography of Villena, Caudete and Yecla", in *La frontera que une*, Murcia: University of Murcia, Ed. Real Academia Alfonso X el Sabio and Fundación CajaMurcia, (in press). ¿ Two national conferences (one in Denia and the other in Jativa), one in 2022 and the other in 2023, following the recent publication of the book: Al-Hayy 'Abd Allah Ibn al-Sabbah al-Asbahi al-Andalusi, Book of the Origin of Events and Remembrance of the Virtuous: General Study and Annotated Translation into Spanish of Manuscript No. 2295 of the National Library of Tunisia, edited by Antonio Constan-Nava, Madrid: CSIC, 2021. ¿ At least one publication per member of the group is planned for the next three years in prestigious journals within the discipline of Arab and Islamic Studies, to disseminate the significant results of these studies. ¿ Participation in the commemoration of the thousandth anniversary of Ibn al-Azm and his work *The Dove's Necklace*, discussed in the cities of Xàtiva and Cordoba, events planned for the end of 2022 and throughout 2023. Furthermore, the results and data will be included in the content of the Literature (2nd language) courses: Arabic, Literature and Culture in Arabic 1 and Literature and Culture in Arabic 2 of the Arabic Minor, either as appendices to already proposed topics or in the development of research seminars scheduled for at least the next three academic years.
- To translate and study contemporary literary works. To achieve this objective, the applicant plans to participate in the co-direction of two doctoral theses: "Translation and study of the work of the Tunisian writer Faten Fazaa" within the doctoral program in Intercultural and Historical Transfers in Medieval Mediterranean Europe of the University of Alicante and IVITRA, in which the applicant participates as co-director, and whose defense is expected for the 2023/2024 academic year. ¿ "Hispanisms in the contemporary Algerian novel in Arabic: A lexical and sociolinguistic study of the works of novelists of the 1950s generation in the Oran region," within the doctoral program in Intercultural and Historical Transfers in Medieval Mediterranean Europe of the University of Alicante and IVITRA, in which the applicant participates as co-director, with the defense expected in 2023. ¿ The publication of at least one article to disseminate the results of the Analysis and translation of rap lyrics in Tunisian Arabic in prestigious journals within the field of Arabic and Islamic Studies. ¿ Invitation to participate in the "Writers in the Classroom" program with the Spanish-Moroccan writer Najat El Hachmi, the Tunisian writer Faten Fazza, and the Iraqi writer Muhsen al-Ramli. ¿ The publication of the Spanish translation of Faten Fazaa's first work, scheduled for the 2023-2024 academic year. ¿ The supervision and guidance for the publication of the necessary articles by the doctoral students working on the co-supervised studies. Furthermore, the results and data will be included within the content of the Literature (2nd language) courses: Arabic, Literature and Culture in Arabic 1 and Literature and Culture in Arabic 2 of the Arabic Minor, either as appendices to already proposed topics or in the development of research seminars scheduled for at least the next three academic years.
- To analyze the processes of linguistic globalization in Arab countries today. To present the results of this objective, the following is planned: · Research stays at research institutions in Tunisia in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Among the institutions contacted for these stays are: the University of Gabes; FTDES Forum Tunisien per les Droits Economiques et Sociaux; and the Temimi Foundation. · Annual organization of the International Symposium on Innovation in Teaching Arabic and Islamic Studies, taking as its reference point December 18th, International Day of the Arabic Language, which this academic year held its first edition at the University of Valencia. · Holding an annual study seminar for students and the general public, within the Arabic Language 2 course, as part of the Cultural Week celebrated by the Faculty of Philology, Translation, and Communication during the month of April. ¿ In cases where the results from these analyses provide significant data, at least one publication is planned within the next three years in prestigious journals within the field of Arabic and Islamic Studies. Furthermore, the results and data will be incorporated into the curricula of the Literature (2nd language) courses: Arabic, Literature and Culture in Arabic 1, and Literature and Culture in Arabic 2 of the Arabic Minor, either as appendices to previously proposed topics or in research seminars scheduled for at least the next three academic years.
