Description of research activity:
The Research Group for the Development of Technologies for Clinical and Health Psychology (SAEM-TIC) has emerged from the multidisciplinary synergy of our researchers, who began collaborating in 2007. Since then we have investigated how to improve the design, development and validation of different technologies in the field of clinical psychology and health psychology and have participated in numerous research projects (local, national and European) as well as in research contracts (art.83) with both public and private entities. One of the group's aims is the transfer of knowledge to society. As a result of this activity, the members of the group have more than 15 intellectual and industrial property records on different evaluation and psychological intervention technologies (web, virtual reality, apps for smartphones, serious games, etc.). One aspect to highlight is that we are co-creators of the "Monitor de Dolor" (Pain Monitor) app, a validated app for telemonitoring patients with chronic pain, which has been recognised with awards such as the best app in medicine 2018 and best health app 2018. Our interest in technology is especially focused on the field of clinical and health...The Research Group for the Development of Technologies for Clinical and Health Psychology (SAEM-TIC) has emerged from the multidisciplinary synergy of our researchers, who began collaborating in 2007. Our interest in technology is especially focused on the field of clinical and health psychology, but the applicability of our research is very broad. The team works on various lines that complement and interrelate to each other. Among the group's research capabilities is the use of advanced software engineering techniques which cover the entire development life cycle, from the development of requirements, graphic user interface design, programming and testing. The Human-Computer Interaction research line complements the development of applications by studying and implementing improvements in the user experience through conducting formative usability studies, that is, during the design of the requirements and development of the first prototypes, and through summative usability studies, which perform user tests on existing interfaces to determine the problems or aspects that may be improved. We have recently focused our attention on the development of ecological momentary assessment apps and ecological momentary intervention apps, which take advantage of the ubiquity potential smartphones provide, ebabling new forms of psychological intervention which adapt to user needs in real time. On our research horizon, the use of artificial intelligence is included to improve the processes of interaction with technologies, increase adherence to treatments and optimise self-applied psychological evaluations and interventions.

Scientific-technical goals:

Research lines:
  • Development of technologies in the Clinical Psychology field..Our aim is to study how to improve how applications are designed in the field of clinical psychology to optimise their effectiveness and therapeutic adherence.
  • Development of technologies in the Health Psychology field..The use of technologies in the field of health psychology is increasingly widespread. Our goal is to develop technologies that can improve the evaluation, intervention or adherence of patients in the field of health psychology.
  • User Experience (UX), usability and acceptability. This line aims to study how to improve user experience (UX), study the usability and usefulness of technologies and analyse the tasks and processes of the end user to optimise the interaction and design of graphical interfaces. Summative and formative usability testing.
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence in Clinical and Health Psychology.Artificial intelligence can help improve processes for interacting with technologies. Our aim is to study how to implement it to optimise self-applied psychological evaluations and interventions, as well as the adherence or understanding of the data obtained.
  • Psychological risks of innovative technologies and products. It is increasingly common to incorporate technology and connectivity into everyday products. This line aims to study the psychological risks that may arise from the use of products that incorporate new technologies.
  • Advanced software engineering techniques. This line aims to analyse and develop new methods in the field of software production throughout all its stages: elaboration of requirements, design of the graphical user interface, specifications, code generation and testing with real users in a real context.
